The Blogosphere

As I was happily pinning beautiful jewelry from the Sydney Jewellery School I had the melancholy thought that if my Dad had lived to see this new world of social forums, his frustrated desires to be a self-supporting jewelery artist could have been realized. The depth of knowledge available online, the sources for inspiration, and the culture of exchange and nurturing among the online artist community would have saved him from the isolation he felt living in rural America surrounded by those with little appreciation for craftsmanship, artistry, and creativity in general.

I think our connectivity is a blessing beyond measure. Social forums have opened the world to those who cannot for geographical isolation, disability, financial or other reasons reach out to others and find kindred souls and friendship.
