Just Jonn

Jonn Wesley, October 2011
A bright light has gone dark and left a hole in my heart. Sometimes over the top, always contagiously fun and burning with intensity of perpetual youth, our friend has left us too early. I will miss the sound of clogs on hardwoods at 3 am and the childlike abandon that never allowed him to consider that clogs on hardwoods at 3am might be inconsiderate. The giggles, the mischief shining in his face, the countless wonderful memories, experiences and the simple goodness of his heart will never be forgotten.

I hope Kerry has a wonderful meal prepared and Banshee is curled in your lap even now as you talk with Grandma. I'll be missing you until we meet again, my friend! Be at peace.

The Blogosphere

As I was happily pinning beautiful jewelry from the Sydney Jewellery School I had the melancholy thought that if my Dad had lived to see this new world of social forums, his frustrated desires to be a self-supporting jewelery artist could have been realized. The depth of knowledge available online, the sources for inspiration, and the culture of exchange and nurturing among the online artist community would have saved him from the isolation he felt living in rural America surrounded by those with little appreciation for craftsmanship, artistry, and creativity in general.

I think our connectivity is a blessing beyond measure. Social forums have opened the world to those who cannot for geographical isolation, disability, financial or other reasons reach out to others and find kindred souls and friendship.
